Worship

Come Let Us Worship Our King

Worship is our daily and joyful response to God for who He is and what He has done, flowing from our hearts and expressed through our lives.

From the beginning of creation, God’s plan has been to build a redeemed community that will worship Him for all eternity (John 4:24, Rev 5:11-14).  At Post Oak Fellowship, we believe worship should be the ultimate focus of every believer’s heart and mind, both in everyday life and in the gathering of His people (Romans 12:1, Psalm 33:1, 1 Peter 2:9).  When we come together to worship, our goal is to remind ourselves of who God is, celebrate all that He has done for us in salvation, affirm our faith together, and become more committed to God's glory. In light of this, our times are marked by a few key commitments:

God’s Word as our foundation and guide. We can only truly worship God when we know Him and His desires for us. Our times of worship together our built on the Bible and often include reading and responding with both song and Scripture. Our practice is not determined by culture or style, but by God's desires. While the Bible gives much freedom in terms of the “how” in expressing our praise, we aim to govern our “what” and “why" by the explicit teachings of Scripture. (Col 3:16, Ps 19:7-11, 2 Tim 3:16, John 17:17, Heb 4:12-13, 1 John 5:13, Ps 1:1-3, John 4:24).

Exalting Jesus Christ above all else. All true Christian worship is centered around the good news of Jesus Christ. Our aim is not just to sing good or true songs, but to turn our hearts and minds to the person and work of Jesus and to lift Him up every time we gather.  (John 12:32, Phil 2:9-11, John 14:6, Heb 13:15)

Surrendering Our Hearts to His Authority and Guidance. Through prayer and the help of the Holy Spirit within us, our aim is to be fully surrendered to God, conforming our lives, our desires, and our conduct to God’s will. (Romans 12:1-2, Psalm 95:6-8)

Praising Him with excellence that He is worthy of.  We want worship to be both musically excellence and spiritually sincere. Jesus is worthy of our very best.  (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37, Psalm 33:3, Hebrews 11:4, Ps 96:7-9)

If you join us for corporate worship, you will see that we sing many contemporary songs as well as traditional songs with a more modern sound. We believe that God gives new songs as well as timeless truth, and we cherish both for the ways in which they help us continue to follow God with faithfulness. Below you find a playlist of some of the songs we are currently singing.

Songs We Sing

Here is a sample of some of the songs that we sing at Post Oak during our times of corporate worship.  If you don't know them, we would love for you to learn them. Feel free to use this playlist to worship at home, on the road, or anytime you want to praise and draw near to God.
